কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের এক সমীক্ষায় দেশের সবচেয়ে নোংরা ২৫টি শহরের মধ্যে ১৯টি পশ্চিমবঙ্গের। এই তালিকায় নাম রয়েছে বাঁকুড়া শহরের। শহরের জুনবেদিয়া থেকে সতীঘাট  যত্রতত্র ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে রয়েছে আবর্জনার স্তূপ।আবার কখনো সেই স্তূপ দখল করছে শহরের ব্যস্ততম রাস্তা।শহরের স্হানীয় মানুষ থেকে দোকানদার সবার  অভিযোগের তীর উঠেছে  পৌরসভার বিরুদ্ধে।

 

জুনবেদীয়া বাসিন্দা সজল বাগ্দি বলেন প্রতিদিন নিয়মিত ডাস্টবিনগুলি পরিষ্কার না করার ফলে আবর্জনায় ভরে স্তূপ হয়ে পড়ছে। পৌরসভাকে জানালেও পৌরসভা থেকে নেয়া হয়নি কোনো ব্যবস্থা। সোমবার থেকে শুক্রবার পরিষ্কার হলেও শনি ও রবিবার দেখা মেলেনা আবর্জনা পরিষ্কারকারী পৌরসভার কোন কর্মীদের। আবর্জনার উপর আবর্জনা পড়ে কার্যত স্তুপের আকার ধারণ করে ডাস্টবিনগুলি। আবর্জনা ভর্তি হয়ে কখনো বা রাস্তার উপরে উঠে পড়ছে ফলে রাস্তা ছোট হয়ে পড়ায় কখনো কখনো ঘটে যাচ্ছে দুর্ঘটনা। আবার এই রাস্তার উপর পারাপার হয় কয়েক হাজার গাড়ি ও পথ চলতি  সাধারণ মানুষ। আবর্জনার গন্ধে কার্যত নাকে রুমাল দিয়ে রাস্তায় নাজেহাল হতে হয় সাধারণ মানুষজন থেকে স্থানীয় ব্যবসাদারদের। শহরের অন্যতম ব্যস্ততম রাস্তা সতীঘাট। সেখানেও ঠিক একই অবস্থা। কার্যত আবর্জনার স্তুপ ধীরে ধীরে দখল করছে ব্যস্ততম রাস্তা।

তবে পৌরসভার ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান দিলীপ আগরওয়ালকে কেন্দ্রীয় সমীক্ষায় সবচেয়ে নোংরা পশ্চিমবঙ্গের 19 টি শহরের মধ্যে বাঁকুড়া শহর অপরিচ্ছন্নতা প্রসঙ্গে জানতে চাওয়ায় তিনি বলেন এই তথ্য সম্পূর্ণ ভুল। বাঁকুড়া আগের তুলনায় অনেকটাই স্বচ্ছ এবং পরিচ্ছন্ন। খুব কম সময়ে শহরের কতগুলি স্কুল প্রধান শিক্ষকের নাম, সেই স্কুলগুলিতে স্বচ্ছ কমিটি রাখা হয়েছে কিনা এইসব তথ্য আমরা সময়ের কারণে দিতে না পারায় আমাদের বাঁকুড়া পৌরসভাকে সমীক্ষায় 100 নম্বরের মধ্যে 20 নাম্বার কাটা হয়েছে।শহরকে পরিষ্কার রাখতে  যথাসাধ্য চেষ্টা চলাচ্ছে বাঁকুড়া পৌরসভা। প্রতিনিয়ত সাফাই এর কাজ চলছে। পৌরসভার সব কাউন্সিলর মিলে শহরকে পরিষ্কার রাখার যথাসম্ভব চেষ্টা করছি। শহরের বেশ কিছু জায়গায় আবর্জনা জমে থাকা আবর্জনা ও হাইড্রেনগুলি পরিষ্কারের কাজ চলছে।
